Aquadel: The Print Media of Drinks — Always Working, Rarely Seen, Forever Essential

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Allow me to start with a confession: we, the humble print journalists, are the most invisible celebrities in the media universe. We craft the stories you gossip about in matatus, sprinkle them in your boardroom debates, and spice up your WhatsApp groups—but do you know our faces? No. You only know our commas and quotation marks.

And that, my friends, is why I find myself in spiritual alignment with Aquadel Drinking Water. They too do the heavy lifting, quenching thirsts from Mikocheni to Meru, yet walk around like unsung heroes.

The Challenge That Shook the Capital

Last week, right here on this very blog, I dropped an open challenge to Nairobi’s Elite Team: a pool tournament, proudly powered—as always—by Aquadel. I dared them to respond or forever hold their cues.

And lo and behold, they responded. Not with emojis, not with a polite “We’ll think about it,” but with class. They didn’t just send a scout; they sent a whole government director—Mr. Allan Kithinji himself. Elites, my people, hamjui mchezo.

That single move changed everything. This wasn’t just casual banter anymore; Nairobi Elite had made it clear: they mean business.

The Scout’s Report

When Allan Kithinji touched down in Meru, he didn’t waste time. He visited Mikocheni, walked through Murugi’s Base, and checked in on Makutano. What he saw wasn’t ordinary barroom pool—it was discipline, sweat, and strategy.

His quiet message back to Nairobi was simple: Meru is no playground.

And so the stage was set. First, Meru must decide its champion. Then, Nairobi Elite will descend.

The Road to the Showdown

Here’s how the journey now unfolds:

September 6th, 2025 – Murugi’s Base (The Qualifier)

Mikocheni, Makutano, and Murugi’s Base face each other in a brutal pool war. Only one team will emerge—the official flag bearer of Meru.

October 10th or October 20th – Nairobi’s Choice (The Showdown)

Once Meru’s champion is crowned, Nairobi’s Elite will step forward. The date is in their hands: either the holiday of October 10th or October 20th.

So, dear Elites, the question is wide open: When will you come?

 To Nairobi’s Cousins… A Word of Warning

Flash, Mwongera a.k.a. Kiumbe, Russia, and the whole Nairobi crew—we are waiting for you. Even super fan Mbogo a.k.a. Buffalo and Muminga, your seats are already reserved.

Since the whooping at Murugi’s Base a month ago, Makutano’s players have been dead serious. Not the fake New Year’s resolution serious. I’m talking two notches higher. Ask league leader Mwita or captain Ali. These guys are practicing like there’s a World Bank loan on the line.

Special Guests

This isn’t just another pool match; it’s a spectacle. From Mombasa, we welcome Honorable Gitonga, group chairman of Keihin Maritime Group of Companies. A titan in clearing and forwarding, mweshimiwa’s presence is proof that this battle is bigger than cues and balls—it’s about legacy.

Fair Game, No Lawyers Required

This time, no need to summon our learned brother, Bwana Munene Newton. We’re keeping it fair and square. Just pure pool, cold drinks, and bragging rights that will echo until Christmas.

Closing Toast

So, to Aquadel—our silent giants, our quencher of thirsts, our print-media-in-liquid-form—we see you. Special salute to the chairman, Alex Muguna. The world might not notice, but this corner of Kenya does.

See you all on September 6th at Murugi’s Base for the qualifiers—and then in October, when Nairobi’s Elites finally face Meru’s finest. Bring your cues, bring your pride, and bring your cousins. As for me? I’ll be there, notebook in hand, watching quietly, just like Aquadel—working in silence, but delivering results.
