Makutano, brace yourselves. What began as a simple community pool tournament has grown into one of Meru’s most exciting youth events — and it just leveled up again.
Aquadel Drinking Water, the original force behind this grassroots wave, has now teamed up with Mann Insurance Consultants, Thorn Expeditions, and local transport mogul Msafu to deliver an event that’s not just about pool — it’s about purpose, unity, and giving back.
If you thought last month’s splash was impressive, you haven’t seen anything yet. This Saturday, 2nd August 2025 at 3 PM, Murugi’s Base (near the former DCI boss’s residence) becomes the arena for a fiery face-off between Makutano and Kaithe–Kinoru — and the community is turning up in full force.

Bigger Sponsors. Bigger Impact.
At the heart of this movement is Patrick Bundi Rungu, aka Bloko, the man behind Aquadel’s mission to hydrate lives and empower youth. What started with bottled water and a vision has attracted serious backing.
Mann Insurance Consultants came on board to double the prizes and invest in youth. Now, Thorn Expeditions— known for their bold outdoor adventures and community presence — has stepped in as a co-sponsor, the prize money even higher.
And because no great tournament should be limited by logistics, local businessman Msafu, a well-known figure in Meru’s transport scene, has generously offered a bus to ferry Makutano players to the venue at Murugi’s Base. That’s what real community support looks like.

The Showdown: Makutano vs. Kaithe–Kinoru – Battle of 32
This is not your average pool tournament. 32 cue masters — 16 representing Makutano, 16 from Kaithe–Kinoru — will battle it out in a high-stakes regional clash that promises thrills, rivalries, and breakout stars.
From total beginners to rising stars and seasoned sharks, all talents will be on display. And yes, female players will be on the lineup too, because this tournament is about skills — not stereotypes.
The match format remains tough but fair. Early rounds are knockout-style, but from the quarterfinals, players will battle it out in a best-of-three format. Because in pool — as in life — everyone deserves a second shot.

New Prize Pool – Thanks to Thorn & Mann
With Thorn Expeditions joining Mann Insurance, the cash prizes have now been supercharged.
The champion of this weekend's showdown will walk away with a powerful Ksh 3,500.
The runner-up earns a solid Ksh 2,000.
And the third-placed finisher pockets a respectable Ksh 1,200.
But the tournament is about more than money. The Top 10 performers — selected strictly on merit — will qualify to represent Imenti North in future rounds of the countywide pool series. It's not just a game — it’s a pathway.

Free Entry. Free Water. Free Transport. Pure Vibes.
Entry is still 100% free for both participants and fans. There’s no registration fee, no ticket charge, and no hassle. Just show up ready to enjoy the atmosphere — and maybe drink a little more water than usual.
Aquadel Drinking Water will keep everyone hydrated, Msafu’s bus will get players to the venue on time, and the people of Meru will do what they do best — show up, support, and celebrate.
With corporate sponsors and local heroes teaming up, the tournament has evolved into a full-blown community festival. The message is clear: when people come together, everybody wins.

Why It Matters
Aquadel didn’t start this journey for publicity. And neither did Mann Insurance, Thorn Expeditions, or Msafu. What binds them is a shared vision — to keep the youth engaged, inspired, and connected.
In a time when distractions and vices lurk in every corner, this tournament offers something powerful: structure, mentorship, and a moment to shine. Every cue ball hit is a statement. Every handshake between rivals is a lesson. Every bottle of water handed out is a symbol of care.
This event isn’t just about fun — it’s about future.
